What is Affiliate Marketing & how does it work?
Affiliate marketing is a very common term for internet marketers and bloggers. If you have ever searched for different ways of earning money online, you must have read this term on several websites. Affiliate marketing basically is a part of digital marketing or internet marketing which is also the most lucrative way for online income.
Today, I have decided to explain this marketing through this article for all of the DPC members who have doubt or queries about Affiliate Marketing.

What is affiliate marketing?
Affiliate Marketing is one of the oldest forms of online marketing where you refer someone to buy a product online and when the person buys that product which you have referred, the owner of the product will pay you a commission. This commission depends on the product which you are recommending to others.
Now, you will question, how the company will track the promotional traffic?
Well, they will provide you a tracking URL which includes your unique affiliate code. Whenever you send traffic via this unique affiliate link, the company track all the promotional activities done by you and then will reward you for your efforts.
In simple words, online companies who sell their products or services online usually looking for affiliates who can help them to drive more sales and in return will reward their affiliates.
In this kind of marketing, it’s a win-win situation for advertisers as they don’t need to pay a huge amount for banner advertising or PPC where the results are not guaranteed.

- You sign up for an affiliate program with all the basic details asked by the advertiser’s affiliate program.
- Once the affiliate program approved your application, they will provide you a unique affiliate link/code which you need to use while promoting their products or services.
- Whenever you display advertiser’s products on your website or blog, you need to use that unique affiliate link.
- A customer visits your website or blog and clicks on your affiliate link and visit the advertiser’s website.
- As soon as a customer visit the advertiser’s website, they will drop a cookie to the customer’s device (computer, laptop or mobile)
- The customer purchased something from the advertiser’s website and when a customer completes the payment process, the advertiser will check the cookie on the customer’s device.
- When the advertiser finds your affiliate cookie which is uniquely assigned to you, they will reward you a commission.
- You can check the commission, sales, traffic report and other detailed information in your affiliate dashboard provided you by the advertiser.
- You will get your commission – monthly or weekly depending on the advertiser’s payment policy.

I really want to get into this Digital Marketing. I have a a fair knowledge about internet but I am not a techee & not from computer background. I am a mechanical engineer I use FB, Whats app, mails, etc. I just want to know that the earning potential what you claim does it real ? Tell me frankly If some one puts 8 hrs daily X 5 Days what would be his genuine average earnings?.
